Urban Policy Professional. Specialize in applied economic and policy research and program management. Heading urban policy domain of Ecorys, an 85 year old research and advisory firm.
Responsible for the urban sector initiatives and is leading the efforts to create knowledge partnerships between Ecorys’ multinational and multicity learnings to Indian context. Has worked on key assignments with central government Ministries of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation (MoHUPA), and Urban Development (MoUD) Government of India. Was part of the program management unit of MoHUPA designing the national urban livelihoods project (NULM) and was also the knowledge management specialist for the Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) scheme. Was instrumental in designing the structure and generating the content for the State of Urban Poverty Report 2013. Was also a team member in Ministry of Urban Development’s (MoUD) National Urban Renewal Mission’s (JnNURM) reforms’ appraisal team. Designed frameworks and guidelines for an Indian state's administrative structure and state municipal laws to conform to JnNURM needs. Coordinated a national level project initiated by MoUD, in the form of national guidelines for initiating a system of guaranteed land titles in urban areas and was responsible for managing the interministerial working group and creating institutional structure for land management and title systems in urban areas. As part of a policy analysis exercise, he analysed the urban policy and institutional structure to monitor the impact of data and information gaps on decision making in framing urban policies. Also worked on creating an index of top 100 urban centres in India to develop economic, demographic and social indicators for the same.
Holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from LKYSPP, National University of Singapore and an Honours degree in Economics from Delhi.
